Another Member's View

On May 15th Lew Richardson wrote that a “Disruption” was planned for the May 16th meeting and to prepare for the Porter propaganda.

Let’s look at the word “Propaganda”:

1. The spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person.

2. Ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause.

I do believe that # 1 is true of the members who were there; we wanted to spread ideas, information for helping a person.

I believe # 2 is Lew Richardson’s agenda, plus we might as well throw in the word rumor and injuring a person from # 1. Court papers were presented to Mr. Richardson who dismissed them with a swift motion of his hand knocking them onto to the floor. He had no interest in the truth. Mr. Richardson even dismissed all of the sixty people who were there by stating he did not represent us. I am sad to say this is a true statement. He doesn’t! He only represents himself and his views, as misdirected as they are.

I have never understood people who always think they are always right and everyone else is wrong. But then there are dictators. The association has no say in the Dean matter, it’s in the courts, and twice the ruling has been against the Deans. So, why do two of our board members still try and make it the associations cause and take sides? Not only take sides but use their new found power to defame a member, a homeowner, and a person who has given much to our community. I want to know what idiot would ever think Mr. Porter built the school? So what if his name is on the sign. He donated the money which paid for the sign. The school wanted to acknowledge that. Is that Mr. Porters issue? “NO!” Why do you make it the Associations issue?

I ask what have you given to this community Mr. Richardson? Have you given as much? Do you care as much? Oh, I’m sorry you could not possibly answer that question. Have you ever taken the time to know the Porter family and to find out they are people of good moral fiber. Surely, you are not a man of good moral fiber for it seems if anyone disagrees with you, you enjoy terrorizing them and humiliating them.

Yes, I had a lovely wedding reception at the Lake Don Pedro Country Club, Mr. Richardson. There were close to a hundred of our loving friends and family there to celebrate with us. The room was filled with love and happiness. Thanks to the Porter family, Chef Brian, all the staff, all the guests had a wonderful time, even Bill Kinsella. Mr. Kinsella knows how much love was in that room, he, and his wife were a part of it. The Porters are generous, but we paid for everything, sorry to disappoint you Mr. Richardson.

My attack on my friend Bill, well let’s see, do I agree with him trying to malign the Porters for some misguided reason? Or to use his new found power to create a hostile environment within the community. To not see the truth when it’s hitting him between the eyes? To align himself with Mr. Richardson who is nothing but poison, who only feeds on negativity, who is malicious and spiteful, who wouldn’t know what an honorable person is. I can only hope Bill will look inside of himself and see his current path is a destructive one. I want my friend back, a friend who represents his current and future community needs. The past is the past Bill, get on with the future. Make Lake Don Pedro an area that has something to offer all of us, for the present and for the future generations to come. Make this a proud community.

Last Saturday's Board Meeting

We attended the recent homeowner's meeting because we are concerned about our association meddling in affairs that are none of their concern and possibly making us members legally and financially responsible for their irresponsible actions.

We thought the CDF fire prevention presentation was appropriate and timely but from that point on this meeting was a total caricature of a board meeting. The vice president, when not pounding his gavel and threatening to recess the meeting and donning a bullet proof vest and his 'best buddy' , the Secretary, ( a poor soul that gets his kicks by spewing rumor as if it were fact) would have been a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit if it were not in fact actually happening. I almost got sick when another director sat on the table and tried to come across as being everyone's best friend. (Many of us remember this director from the old days when we used to have three beautiful pool tables at the Hacienda.) We left after two hours of this meeting partly because we could see it was going nowhere and partly because I was getting my dander up and it was better leaving than being pulled into this farce.

I tried to goggle the LDPOA to find its official blog and all I could find was the blog by our board Secretary where he has ranted over and over about some driveway and disgruntled homeowner. I could find no complaint made by the disgruntled homeowner. Nor could I find where the association had started legal action against the driveway. (Either to have it removed or to have it brought up to code). I would think that even the "bubba-style" board members would have enough common sense to know better than to discuss this kind of thing in a blog or anywhere where they could be cited and sued. It seems they are more interested in the gossip aspect of the issue than having it resolved in the best interests of the association and its members.

I read about the CSD and the Deerwood water bill issue and my first thought was, "Wow, would I be angry if the CSD let slip to the public that I had not paid my water bill for any reason. ” That is really above and beyond any common sense action I could imagine. But while we are talking about water bills, has anyone noticed the standing water on the roadway by the golf course? That is clearly a CSD water line leak, and at just about the spot where the water comes into the golf course. It has been there for over a month and shows no sign of drying up and the pavement is starting to sink around the spot where the water first shows. Hope it is not my car driving over it when the sink hole decides to open up.

We first bought a lot here in the early 80’s and we moved to Don Pedro officially in the late 80’s, so we are not newcomers to this association or its problems. I have to say that this year’s board is one of the worst out of many questionable regimes we have experienced.

“One Gal’s Opinion”

The LDPOA Board of Directors’ monthly meeting was held this past Saturday and for the standing-room only attendees, it was an abhorrent display of mismanagement on the part of our so-called Association leaders. The main items on the agenda contained a presentation from Cal Fire, the various committee reports and some vague old business. However, the primary purpose for all of us attending was to support the Porter Family, Harry Alfier and to voice our disgust over the Board’s management practices, more importantly, the use of the Association newspaper for their own views.

What we witnessed Saturday was seriously appalling and should not be taken lightly. Frankly folks, our twins’ 6th grade class could have conducted themselves and the meeting in a more professional manner than that exhibited by the current Board. These so-called leaders (and they are not leaders after seeing their conduct Saturday) run this corporation daily without heed to oversight, management or accountability. It is clear they do what they want with our money and without the member’s input. This must STOP.

As the meeting was over 3 hours long, it is unreasonable to convey every detail, but the items of most concern are as follows:

1 - Pledge of Allegiance. This was on the agenda; however, the Board stated they did not have a flag and therefore, the Pledge was overlooked. My question to the Board is if you can spend thousands of dollars on this New Discoverer, you can certainly afford a proper flag and stand so that it is available for proper use for any meeting that is held in the Lounge. Also, where was the podium? Has this been discarded as well?

2- President Kennedy - we all regret he didn't attend the meeting. We were told he was absent Saturday due to illness. Unfortunate for Kennedy to be absent or dare I say ironic that he would miss such a contentious meeting.

3- Vice President Kinsella - A ridiculous excuse for a leader. Halfway through the meeting, he dons a flak jacket that he had stashed behind the Directors’ table. Apparently, the truth was hurting him. He is yesterday’s leftover and should be discarded as such. His connection with both the LDPOA and LDPCSD is not a good match as it is obvious that confidential information from one board is leaked to the other and for this reason (among many others), he should resign from both.

4- Richardson - all in attendance saw the real Lew: a man full of angst on the verge of mania. He has done nothing for the Parks, nothing for the Trails but he is good at spewing vehement bile on a website. He is not of true character for if he was, he would not have to hide so readily behind a computer screen.

5- The Rest – Mr. Afanasiev, Mrs. Reese, Ms. Perez and Mr. Day. As to these individuals, all four of them were appointed not elected to the Board. All I can say about these folks is it is clear who runs the Board and these people do not. They are merely warm bodies to fill a space. They are now in the backlash of what the “leaders” decide/think. If they were smart, they would have resigned post haste and got the hell out of Dodge Saturday to avoid any future personal liability.

The Board commented on the cost of the recount and how it was a waste of money and no one showed up. If the election audit would have been handled properly, the elected Directors may have just been landowners like the rest of us. The cost of the recount was an issue at the last meeting. According to Richardson and Kinsella, it was a waste of money. Now they have the same concerns regarding a recall. If their real concern is the cost to the members, then we propose that they ALL simply resign and save us the money.

The support for the Porter Family and Harry Alfier was tangible Saturday and rightfully so. These are people who invested hard work, time and money into our Community for the betterment of our members. For the Board to misconstrue their good works is reprehensible. Funny – they hate my husband and the baseball folks just as much for improving El Prado Park. For those of you who don’t know the full story, Mike had to literally fight and beg for $5k last year for the ballpark yet now this Board finds it in themselves to spend half that amount each month to publish a newspaper we don’t need? I would vote any day to expend that kind of cash monthly to organizations who could put it to good use (i.e. Soccer Association, 49er Little League, Lions Club, the Schools!) Our Association is entitled to representation that promotes good works, not chastising the good people who do.

The Board was asked to resign Saturday and not one of them stepped out the door. What does that tell you? They are entrenched until we all throw them out.

We spent over 3 hours away from our kids on Saturday to attend the meeting. We are not lacking for things to do in our family; however, if we are all to live here and better our community, we all need to take heed of the Board’s actions as their misdeeds will be our mess to fix.

For all the readers out there, I ask that you take a moment and get involved so that we can bring better representation to the Association as there is so much GOOD we can do with the proper leadership. Unfortunately, the ship has sailed for this group and now they are mere fodder in a sea of childish behavior.

As for me and my house, we will continue to befriend Harry Alfier as he is a wonderful man with genuine character. We will also be spending the Summer with the Porter Family, utilizing the beauty they have created in the little oasis known as the Lake Don Pedro Golf & Country Club. The golf course is spectacular, the staff is second to none, and the camaraderie found at LDPGCC is unmatched.

I urge you to sign the Board of Directors’ Recall Petition as it benefits all of us to find strong, honest and most importantly, adult representation! Thank you for the opportunity to post this on an uncensored medium.

This is just “One Gal’s Opinion” -
